Stuart McNeil is a Senior Lecturer for the Cardiff Metropolitan University, within the Department for Computing and Information Systems in the Cardiff School of Management where he is a year tutor for the BSc Software Engineering , BSc Computing andBSc Business Information SystemsBSc Business Information Systems Undergraduate programmes.

He has previously worked within the interactive media sector for numerous years and gained awards including a BAFTA. Stuart is the Managing Director of Deft Design since 1996 and was theEducation Director and trustee for‘Pedestrian Arts’ Charitable Non-Profit National Arts Company up until 2013. Stuart reviews papers for and is a member of the British Computer Society, Human Computer Interface group and has been a Judge for BAFTA, The Golden Pixel Awards and the Celtic Film Festival .

The ‘This working stuff is really cool’ points of my career * A helicopter shoot at 250 ft above‘Tower Bridge’ with the sun flaring over the spires of London’s skyline. * Having a 'blue chip' and rather famous corporate technology team in  London, stood around my work and ask "How did you do that?” * Winning an award for ‘best new media’, when I had no idea I was even entered. * Being involved with the excitement and passion of students researching and developing creative and inspirational work. * Onstage at Hackney Marshes with Ice-T,Mark-B & Blade, Biz Markie and Rodney-P, They are Famous rap artists, however, if you have to explain it, it probably does not matter. * Watching a young child who had been expelled from school and excluded for the best part of his formative years, obtain his first qualification.


Field of interest: Pedagogical development pertaining to two disparate arenas; Higher Education and Information & Interaction Design.
